culturescape is committed to combining practice and theory to;
  • develop innovative practice
  • contribute new knowledge and
  • provide insight into shared experience

As a practitioner-researcher, culturescape founder Kevin Wallace has used techniques such as focus groups, surveys, interviews and case studies of real events for academic research and publication.  He has developed specific interest and expertise in stakeholder theory, exploring this phenomenon in the events and festival sector to develop a new framework and methodology for wider application.

Kevin attended the inaugural Tourism, Hospitality & Events INternational Conference (THE INC) in June 2018 in Buxton, UK, and presented ‘The Stakeholder Sandwich: A New Stakeholder Analysis Model for Events and Festivals’. This research returned to first principles of stakeholder theory to develop an alternative approach for researchers and practitioners. This led to his first published paper in Event Management in October 2019 and is available here

Kevin took part in the second iteration of THE INC in June 2020. Hosted by NHL Stenden University in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, this conference took place online. He presented a follow-up paper entitled ‘Stakeholder requirements and value co-creation in events' which has been accepted for publication (due out 2021).  Kevin is currently studying for a PhD at University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
